So a few days ago I had the bright idea of starting a blog about something I know a bit about. Music. I also saw it as an opportunity to promote my goings on within my musical sphere; be it gig reviews, recordings, new merchandise or whatever. As well as all that though, I would like to bring forth discussions on a deeper level; mostly related to music of course, but I'd imagine it may stray now and again, but not too much. Of course I would welcome any feedback or comments, especially with the discussions because then they wouldn't be discussions.
I'd also really like to pop in the odd review of new music, whether it be local or not, and I will endevour to do so when the right stuff comes along. Anyone who knows me probably knows my musical leanings and therefore should know what to expect in the way of reviews. Anyone who doesn't will just need to work it out for themselves :-) In other words I won't be reviewing anything by Lady Gaga, One Direction or anything of that ilk. It's just not worth it.
As well as all this, having been playing in bands for more or less 30 years now (!) I would like to offer the odd piece of advice for all those young upstarts out there. Whether or not they read it (or indeed take it) is anybody's guess. I'm certainly not expecting the world to suddenly care about what I think, but if I can help someone realise where they might be going right, or wrong, then that's all good eh?
I'm hoping to be able to post at least once a week, I'm not going to be letting anyone in on the colour of socks I'm wearing or 'owt like that (black today) so if I have nothing to say, important or otherwise, I won't say it.
I hope a few merry folk will come along with me on my magical musical carpet ride of words (see what you've got to look forward to?) and of course any comments or suggestions on topics would be most welcome.
S'laters,
Ross
